we will sing for you ….
49 dead in Orlando, many more wounded
two year old Lane Graves taken by an alligator while standing at the water’s edge, hand-in-hand with his father
a young mother dying of cancer
a young man dead as the result of a “freak accident”
There is no understanding, no way to make sense of these senseless tragedies,
Our hearts break for every mother and father, husband and wife, brother and sister, each and every family member, friend, and loved one.
How easily it could be me or you grieving, broken by a devastating loss …
Let us thank God that we have been given one more day with our loved ones ….
A few days ago Melissa shared encouragement from the Word with us ….
Today I share song …
I shared these words with the midwife who delivered my boys, Miss Sharon, who this very day will be attending a memorial service for her son.
God has really laid her on my heart and this past Sunday at church every song became a prayer over her.
During this time of such heartbreak in our world, I hope these words may be an encouragement to you as well.
And for those who cannot sing, Let us sing songs of praise and prayer over them.
To those who are hurting ….
Until you sing again, we will sing for you.
And we will pray to the God of all comfort that He would turn your pain into praise.
But as for me, I shall sing of Your strength; Yes, I shall joyfully sing of Your lovingkindness in the morning, For You have been my stronghold And a refuge in the day of my distress. O my strength, I will sing praises to You; For God is my stronghold, the God who shows me lovingkindness.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5
Turning song into prayer ….
Open up the heavens
So that she will see you
Open up the floodgates
A mighty river
Flowing from your heart
Filling every part of her pain
Your presence in his pain
Your glory on his face
We’re looking to the sky
Descending like a cloud
You’re standing with him now
Lord, unveil his eyes
Show her, show her your glory
Show her, show her your power
Show her, show her your glory, Lord
Show him, show him your love, Lord
Show him, show him your mercy
Show him, show him your goodness, Jesus.
A prayer ….
Spirit of the Living God
I pray that those who are hurting will hear Your voice, feel Your love, see Your hand at work in their pain.
Come and speak to the brokenhearted, O Lord.
Spirit of the Living God, I pray that they will hear Your voice as never before. I pray that, through the pain, they would know you more and more.
When you do what only You can do, it changes us. Thank you God that You are there in the room. Always. At all times.
Spirit of the living God, I pray she will lean into all You are as never before. God, I pray that You would come now and breathe upon her heart. Do what only You can do.
God, I pray You would move all his fears. He has already been moved to tears.
God, do what only you can do. Turn pain into praise.
God fall upon those that mourn, those that grieve, that they may fall on their knees, fall at Your feet, Jesus, to be held and loved by You.
God, please do what only You can do.
Spirit of the Living God, I pray Your voice will be heard as never before.
“Though we cannot comprehend such a mystery
Just a glimpse of You revealed is compelling us to sing
Holy, holy is the Lord God almighty
Worthy, worthy is Your Name
All of Heaven joins the universe ever crying
Worthy, worthy is Your name“
As we sing we can be encouraged that our loved ones who knew and know Jesus sing with us from heaven.
And we can rest in the promise that He will turn our pain into praise.
You turned my wailing into dancing;
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.
Lord my God, I will praise you forever.
