Today is a day that will change the future of our country but not the Word of God. Today is a day that will stir the waters and raise blood pressure for many Americans but Christians are to rest in peace. Say what? You heard me.
My heart is heavy as I’ve witnessed months and months of tension building and relationships breaking for the sake of a new leader for this land and for some, even in the name of Jesus. But my friends, all I want to share with you today are words directly from the Leader of all the land, King Jesus.
No debate here. No hurt feelings here. No judgement, no discrimination, and certainly no hatred. Don’t get me wrong, knowledge and awareness is a responsibility of the believer but knowing scripture and applying it to life is as well. So, at the end of today when you get to lie down in your cozy homes with your cozy families, don’t panic for what’s to come. Turn to the word of God and put your money where your mouth is. If you are a Christian, act like it.
For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken. How long will all of you attack a man to batter him, like a leaning wall, a tottering fence? They only plan to thrust him down from his high position. They take pleasure in flashed. They bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Those of low estate are but a breath; those of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath. Put no trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase set not your heart on them. Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God, and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will render to a man according to his work.
And if this isn’t enough to remind you of who is in control and where our faith should rest, check this out.
Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.
Wait, there’s more.
The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.
Nope, not done yet.
The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And for those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.
Yep, hang on.
Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself, it tends only to evil. For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land.
My dear friends, regardless of the end results, we have no excuse to act foolish, spew anger, or hide in fear. Don’t take my word for it, read God’s. There’s plenty more where these came from. He is our good father and that hasn’t changed and it never will. I challenge you to take a look at your actions and your words. Do they reflect Jesus and his promises during this crucial time? Are you setting an example of faith to the world, to those in your home? Let us pray. Let us repent. And then, pray some more.
Hello Friends! I am honored that you would choose to spend some time with me! My name is Melissa and oh do I carry a ton of baggage. Some under my eyes and even more in my mind! The good news, I have chosen to let that baggage serve as a reminder of the promise that “all things are used for good” and I’m hopeful it will allow us to bond over tears, smiles, and maybe even a little yelling. After all, I am a southern belle.
